I found this picture when I visited http://www.scholastic.com/. It's digital art done by 17 year old Grant Leung in Ohio. I have no idea how to do any kind of digital art and that's why this picture really interested me. It looks so real that when I saw it I was completely grossed out! Though I don't have the technology (except for photoshop) that I could do something like this with, I hope to learn/try digital art in the future.

The drawing of the girl was so realistic same as me. This picture came up right after the digital one, but I couldn't help but post it. The way it was drawn- subject slightly off center, the extreme contrast of light vs dark and its source of light along with its realism- made me want to practice drawing people so that I could draw something like that.

From this site I learned that I could have entered a drawing in seventh grade to win scholarships. It's too late for that now but maybe I could enter in something this year and try and win some money. I also learned that they recognize writing as art which is kind of nice because people don't often put those two together. What was really nice is that they listed and then described how they judge each piece; originality, vision, and technical skill. Perhaps these are what the AP art test graders look for as well.

  1. We should definitely enter some of your work in Scholastics. It is a huge honor to have work awarded the silver or gold key. We'll have to give it a try.

    Great finds.
